Why OCS at IRRI

The One Corporate System (OCS) is the new software system that will help IRRI staff manage projects, human resources, and finances, and help with other administrative and reporting work.

Nine CGIAR centers and the Consortium Office are participating in the development, implementation, and adoption of OCS. Other centers are the International Potato Center (CIP), WorldFish Center, Africa Rice Center, World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Bioversity International, International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). IRRI is one of the centers that took the lead in developing OCS and will be the first to start using it.

OCS will improve processes and enhance collaboration across CGIAR centers and research programs, such as the Global Rice Science Partnership (GRiSP), by aligning processes, data, and information.

Why is it necessary to replace old systems

The current administrative software systems at IRRI are inefficient, fragmented, costly, and no longer supported by software companies. It is imperative that we replace them to reduce risks. At IRRI, OCS will replace
  • Middleware
  • Epicor
  • IRRI Dashboard
  • The current HRS system called Great Plains
